Cultural Events Fund
Call for proposals: April 1, 2026 and March 31, 2027
The Cultural Events Fund (CEF), administered by Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation, supports public gatherings that celebrate and preserve local culture through arts and heritage.
Eligible applicants include not-for-profit community groups, municipalities, Local Service Districts, and Indigenous Community Organizations. Grants typically range from $1,000 to $2,000, though multi-day festivals may receive more. Applications are assessed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Community Grants
Call for proposals: October 2025 to November 27, 2026 at 4 p.m.
The City of St. John’s Community Services Grants Program offers financial support to organizations and individual artists for projects that align with the City’s Strategic Directions: Sustainable City, City that Moves, Connected City, and Effective City.
Eligible applicants include Community, Sporting, Arts, and Special Events/Festival organizations, alongside Individual Artists. Organizations must be not-for-profit corporations or registered charities in good standing and authorized to operate in Newfoundland and Labrador, whereas individual artists must reside within St. John’s.
There’s no upper limit for organizations, but they must raise at least 20% of their project budget from non-government sources. Individual artists, however, can ask for up to $3,000.

Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program
Call for proposals: July 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. to September 8, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.(ET)
The Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program’s Anti-Racism Call funds initiatives that address systemic racism and discrimination in Canada. The objective is to strengthen community efforts through collaborative initiatives that promote inclusion and equitable access within Canadian organizations and institutions.
Eligible applicants include Canadian not-for-profits, non-federal public institutions, provincial/municipal governments, and Indigenous organizations. Projects may receive up to $1,000,000 per project.

Cooperation with the Community Sector — Community Life
Call for proposals deadlines: Letter of Intent due September 1, 2026; full application due November 15, 2026
Canadian Heritage (Government of Canada) supports community organizations working to strengthen official-language minority communities across Canada. Eligible applicants include Canadian non-profits, associations, and foundations whose missions support the development of official-language minority communities nationally, provincially, or locally. Priority is given to innovative projects addressing current issues and programming with lasting community impact. Initiatives aligned with reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples are also encouraged. TELUS Community Board Grants
Call for proposals deadlines: July 31, 2026 / October 2, 2026 (Rolling admissions apply)
The TELUS Community Board Grants, funded by the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation, support initiatives from Canadian registered charities and qualified donees that focus on local, grassroots community-based health and education programs. Preference is given to programs that demonstrate the use of technology to make positive community impacts.
Eligible programs must support youth up to age 29 experiencing obstacles to reaching their full potential. Grants provide single-year funding of up to $20,000.

New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP)
Call for proposals: June 2 to July 14, 2026
The New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) Community‑based Projects stream is a federal grant that funds activities led by and for seniors to strengthen social inclusion across Canadian communities. It specifically supports vulnerable senior groups, including Indigenous seniors, low‑income seniors, newcomers, racialized communities, members of 2SLGBTQI+ communities, persons with disabilities, and official language minority communities.
Eligible organizations can now apply for up to $50,000** per project (maximum **$25,000 for capital expenses). Projects must last no longer than 52 weeks and require seniors to lead or play a vital role in planning and/or delivery.
